And, tonight, audiences are promised a showcase of all the talents he’s honed along the way as he takes to the stage during the finale of Britain’s Got Talent. The funnyman and dad-of-two, who lives in Chorley, has been in the capital all week putting the finishing touches to his routine, which he says will pay homage to his Lancashire roots and early entertainment career. But his excitement at just being able to take part, he says, has made his year. The 51-year-old said: “It’s just been mad – the reaction after the semi-final,the support from back home, especially Blackpool, the Grand Theatre, it’s tremendous. “Obviously what I really need is everyone to vote me to win now!” Judges on the hit ITV programme – David Walliams, Ashley Banjo, Alesha Dixon, and Amanda Holden – propelled Steve straight to the final during week one of the family entertainment show semi-finals. He added: “It was an amazing feeling and week one of the semi finals has taken the pressure off slightly against Nabil [Abdulrashid, comedian and competitor] who has only had a week. “It was strange because the original auditions were such a long time ago and then we had this huge wait for the semi-finals and then these last weeks have suddenly flown by. “I can’t describe just how much of an amazing experience it has been and more than anything just enjoying performing again in Blackpool in-between.” Steve opened his show Comedy Chaos with fellow magical funny man Russ Brown last month at the Pleasure Beach in South Shore. It runs until Wednesday October 28. For now though, his focus remains on his final act and the chance of winning a £250,000 prize and a spot at the Royal Variety Show. He said: “I’ve absolutely loved every minute of it and I honestly can’t praise the BGT team enough. Every person I’ve worked with has been incredible. It’s like one family. “It feels a little strange with the circumstances and odd to think the family have to watch it from home, but I’m just so excited to get up there, do it and have some fun. “Those who was familiar with my act over the years will see some hints of Camelot, panto – various things – but I’ve prepared a very big surprise.” The show starts at 7.30pm.
