Are you looking for a change of direction and a career that offers rewarding opportunities which will make a difference?

Preston’s Guardian Homecare is recruiting new care assistants, with a chance for a career pathway for the future, plus cash rewards after probation.

Staff at the firm make a real difference to their service users, helping them to live better lives. But as an employer, the firm also has an excellent package for new recruits, supporting them towards their futures too.

This includes full in-house training, the chance to start apprenticeships and practical experience for people looking to pursue a career in nursing, social work or care home management.

Ross McCrann, Branch Manager at Guardian Homecare, said of the care assistant role: “The knowledge, skills and behaviours that you will develop working for us are amazing stepping stones for your future career development.”

Care assistant recruits who successfully pass their probation will also be given a £300 reward, and every month the company runs its Carer of the Month Awards, where it recognises staff members who exemplify a great all-round attitude and go above and beyond.

And colleagues who love the company and successfully refer a friend will get another £300 bonus.

Apprenticeship training is funded at levels two and three, making it an excellent place to develop your career. There’s a chance to access short courses and a host of entitlements for staff, including maternity, paternity and adoption pay, a pension scheme and the cycle-to-work scheme.

About the job

Care assistants make a huge difference to people and duties include personal care, shopping, mealtimes and housework, helping them to retain their dignity and stay independenet for as long as possible.

With so much training in-house, you don’t need experience in the sector. Instead, you need to have skills such as empathy, compassion and caring at your core, while all other skills will be taught, with mentors looking after you as you grow into your career.

Guardian Homecare is part of City & County Healthcare Group, the largest home care provider in the UK, and supports thousands of people throughout Lancashire.

Encouraging people to think about a career in care, Ross added: “Our teams are skilled workers. They all bring their own kind of innovation, their own past and experiences.

“They’re helping people to lead better lives and we’re very proud of that.”
