Fire erupts at 'local garage' on Plungington Road in Preston

A fire at a commercial premises in Plungington was tackled by fire crews from Penwortham, Fulwood, Bamber Bridge and Preston.

Plungington Road was closed off by police after a fire reportedly broke out at a garage at around 3pm on Friday afternoon (May 29).

Fire crews from Penwortham, Fulwood, Bamber Bridge and Preston rushed to tackle the blaze - located between Robinson Street and the Lytham Road Roundabout.

A sign at the front of the premises had caught fire and took firefighters nearly two hours to extinguish.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Crews used two hose reels, triple extension ladders, a thermal imaging camera and a tool kit to extinguish the fire and check the fire had not spread."
