Man, 20, killed after being hit by van in Bamber Bridge as murder investigation launched

Officers say the 20-year-old man, from Walton-le-Dale, was hit by a Transit van on Station Road at around 1pm today (Thursday, February 11).
He was riding an e-scooter at the time of the incident and died a short time later as a result of his injuries.

Hide AdA 25-year-old man from Leyland, believed to be the driver of a Ford Transit van involved, has been arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody for questioning.
Police said enquiries remain at a "relatively early stage" and they are now appealing for witnesses.
Det Chief Inspector Zoe Russo, of Lancashire’s Force Major Investigation Team, said: “This incident has resulted in the tragic loss of a young man’s life and my thoughts are with his loved ones at this distressing time.
“While we have made an arrest, our enquiries are very much ongoing and so I would appeal to anyone who witnessed what happened or who has CCTV or dashcam footage which may have captured the incident to come forward and contact us.

Hide Ad“We know that the collision followed a wing mirror being hit from the van involved just prior to it happening.”
A second man, 26 and from Bamber Bridge, was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage in connection to the mirror being struck.
A post-mortem examination to establish the cause of the victim’s death will take place in due course.
