The Environment Agency has issued flood alerts for Lancashire, as the county is battered by torrential rain.

Two alerts, meaning flooding is possible, be prepared, have been issued for the lower River Wyre, and the upper River Wyre at Brock.

An update on the Environment Agency website just after 1.30pm on Monday said: “More heavy rain is forecast for this afternoon which will cause rivers to rise further.

“Rainfall will continue until the late afternoon.”
