With cold weather forecast in the next few days in the northern areas of the country and the East and West Midlands, leading first aid and health response charity, St John Ambulance, issues first aid advice for cold-related illnesses like hypothermia and frostbite and slips and trips in icy conditions.

  • Shivering – as the body attempts to warm itself
  • Slow, shallow breathing – as the body tries to conserve energy.
