Preston North End girls get among the medals
Teams from as far afield as Carlisle and Wigan came together in Preston to claim their place in the next round of the popular schools cup.
The girls from Broughton High School, representing PNE, made a good start in the group stage, making it through to the semi-finals, where they lost to Wigan.

Hide AdThey then took on Fleetwood Town, who had beaten them in the group stage, reversing the result to take bronze medals.
In the final Blackburn took on Wigan who had convincingly beaten them in the group stage.
Not to be disheartened, Blackburn knuckled down and overturned the result, ending up as area champions.
Dean Brandwood, Preston City Council, School Games Organiser said: “The quality of play at this stage was impressive and bodes well for the future of girls’ football in England.”
