They were greeted by store manager Tony Breen, Olympic medallist Anyika Onuora and Team GB Taekwondo star Adelaide Barnes, who cut the ribbon at 8am.
The first 30 people were rewarded with bags of free fruit and veg from Aldi’s Super Six range.
The supermarket – which has been built on the former site of the Bay Leaf restaurant in Liverpool Road – is more than 1,700 square metres in size and has created 35 jobs.
